Background

I'm Ruoyu Wen, a PhD student in Human Computer Interaction at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. With a Master's in Game Design from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Bachelor's in Communication from China, I bridge theoretical research and practical game development across cultures.

Research Focus

My research focuses on Alternate Reality Games (ARGs) and player motivation analysis. I explore how players engage with digital experiences that blur fiction and reality, using mixed-method approaches combining quantitative analytics with qualitative insights.

Vision

I believe games can create meaningful connections and foster cultural understanding. My goal is to contribute to game design informed by rigorous research and cultural sensitivity, creating inclusive experiences for diverse global audiences.
