PhD Candidate in Product Design · Game Design, HCI, Human-Agent Interaction
I'm Ruoyu Wen, a PhD Candidate in Product Design at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. I hold a Master's in Game Design from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Bachelor's in Communication from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. I bridge theoretical research and practical game development across cultures, with experience as a game designer and academic researcher.
My research explores Human-Agent Interaction, Virtual Reality, Alternate Reality Games (ARGs), and game design. I investigate how players engage with immersive experiences, AI-driven interactions, and narrative formats that blur fiction and reality—using mixed-method approaches combining quantitative analytics with qualitative insights.
Design, teaching, strategy, research, and game design. Native in Chinese (中文) and English.
I believe games and interactive technologies can create meaningful connections and foster cultural understanding. My goal is to contribute to design informed by rigorous research, creating inclusive experiences for diverse global audiences.
